We are pleased to announce the upcoming grand event in the world of origami, starting November 15, 2025.
IOIO is being held for the tenth time and will continue to delight participants from around the world with the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and creative potential. This year, we maintain the tradition of free participation for everyone, regardless of age or skill level. Participation in the Olympiad is not only a unique opportunity for self-development but also a real test of mastery through tasks that will push beyond conventional solutions. Details about the number of tasks, their complexity, and paper selection recommendations will be published in this section in a timely manner. Participants' works will be evaluated by a competent jury consisting of renowned origami masters and experts in the field. The full judging panel will be announced closer to the Olympiad date.

IOIO Rules
The rules for conducting international origami olympiads are the foundation for fair and just participation. Transparent and clear conditions for all who wish to demonstrate their skills within the IOIO framework. The rules cover various criteria, including the format of the event, evaluation of models, and requirements for photographs and materials. They are designed so that every participant has equal opportunities and understands how the competition will proceed.
We strongly recommend that all participants familiarize themselves with the rules before the start of the olympiad. This section will be regularly updated and supplemented with new requirements to improve the organization of IOIO.
IOIO Rankings
The IOIO Rankings serve as a kind of honor board that reflects the main records of the olympiad. The lists are formed based on competition results, participant voting, and more.
Participant Rankings
The ranking of participants in the International Origami Olympiad is a title list that reflects the achievements and mastery of participants over the years of IOIO. This ranking is based on the results of competitions held within the framework of the olympiad and takes into account both individual and team performances.
The main parameters for forming the ranking are the medals and titles for individual and team victories obtained during the International Internet Olympiads on origami throughout their existence.
This ranking is an important indicator of the development of IOIO and contributes to the popularization of participants on the international stage.
Design Rankings
The ranking is formed based on the results of voting by the participants of the olympiad, making it a reflection of the community's opinion of origami enthusiasts.
Each model in the ranking not only demonstrates the technical skills and artistic vision of the author but also tells its unique story. The models included in this list were selected based on their complexity, aesthetics, and innovative approach, making them role models for future origami masters.
The ranking serves as inspiration for participants and spectators, encouraging them to explore new techniques and approaches in creating origami. It highlights the diversity of styles and directions in origami, from traditional to modern interpretations.
Task Difficulty Rankings
The ranking of the most complex models used in IOIO olympiads, which were completed by the fewest participants. This ranking emphasizes the uniqueness and technical complexity of the models, which have become a true challenge for origami artists, requiring the highest degree of technical skill and patience.
The models included in the ranking can be particularly appealing during preparations for future origami competitions, allowing participants to learn from examples of complex models and be ready for tasks of any difficulty.
International Origami Internet Olympiad
9The International Origami Internet Olympiad (IOIO) is a nonprofit global event founded in 2010 in the Russian Federation. Open to participants worldwide regardless of nationality, the IOIO celebrates the intersection of folding art and technology. Over the years, it has emerged as one of the most prestigious and widely anticipated events in the origami community. Thousands of accomplished origami artists from across the globe have participated in this distinguished event. Many have since gained international recognition, their names now synonymous with excellence in the field. Beyond its engaging format, the IOIO provides both designers and folders with an unparalleled platform to showcase their skills, gain visibility, and challenge themselves against the world’s finest origami masters.
IOIO - 2011
From 01/06/2011 to 30/06/2011, the 1st Open International Origami Olympiad was held in memory of the great origami master Eric Joisel.
It consisted of 13 tasks:
- 5 diagrams,
- 2 crease patterns,
- 1 kusudama,
- 3 tessellations,
- 1 corrugation,
- own design.
A total of 96 masters from 26 countries around the world participated in the contest.
IOIO - 2012
From 15/09/2012 to 15/10/2012, the 2nd Open International Origami Olympiad was held in memory of the Russian origami master Eugeny Fridrikh.
It consisted of 13 tasks:
- 6 diagrams,
- 1 crease pattern,
- 1 kusudama,
- 3 tessellations,
- 1 corrugation,
- own design.
A total of 196 masters from 34 countries around the world participated in the contest.
IOIO - 2013
From 15/10/2013 to 15/11/2013, the 3rd Open International Origami Olympiad was held. It consisted of 12 tasks:
- 5 diagrams,
- 1 crease pattern,
- 1 kusudama,
- 3 tessellations,
- 1 corrugation,
- own design.
A total of 215 masters from 37 countries around the world participated in the contest.
IOIO - 2014
From 15/10/2014 to 15/11/2014, the 4th Open International Origami Olympiad was held. It consisted of 12 tasks:
- 5 diagrams,
- 1 crease pattern,
- 1 kusudama,
- 3 tessellations,
- 1 corrugation,
- own design.
A total of 289 masters from 50 countries around the world participated in the contest.
IOIO - 2015
From 15/10/2015 to 15/11/2015, the 5th Open International Origami Olympiad was held. It consisted of 12 tasks:
- 5 diagrams,
- 1 crease pattern,
- 1 kusudama,
- 3 tessellations,
- 1 corrugation,
- own design.
A total of 288 masters from 46 countries around the world participated in the contest.
IOIO - 2016
From 15/10/2016 to 15/11/2016, the 6th Open International Origami Olympiad was held. It consisted of 15 tasks:
- 7 diagrams,
- 2 crease patterns,
- 1 kusudama,
- 3 tessellations,
- 1 corrugation,
- own design.
A total of 453 masters from 53 countries around the world participated in the contest.
IOIO - 2017
From 01/11/2017 to 01/12/2017, the 7th Open International Origami Olympiad was held. It consisted of 17 tasks (2 rounds):

- 3 tessellations,
- 1 corrugation,
- own design.
A total of 541 masters from 56 countries around the world participated in the contest.
IOIO - 2018
From 15/10/2018 to 15/11/2018, the 8th Open International Origami Olympiad was held. It consisted of 14 tasks (2 rounds):

A total of 549 masters from 54 countries around the world participated in the contest.
IOIO - 2021
From 01/10/2021 to 01/11/2021, the 9th Open International Origami Olympiad was held. It consisted of 14 tasks:
